Support for Facilities

Objective: $65 million for the construction of dormitories, improvements to athletic facilities, and campus restoration and preservation projects.

Impact: To provide Choate’s students and faculty with a comfortable and appealing environment for learning and living.

The buildings, playing fields, and green spaces of Choate’s 470 acre campus are an asset of striking beauty and value—and one requiring significant new investment. Choate has not built a new dormitory in nearly 40 years. This fact puts the school at a disadvantage when competing with institutions that have launched ambitious building programs in recent decades. More important, it means that some of Choate’s facilities do not meet the standard they should.

Choate’s plans for construction and renovation will radically redress this situation, with the construction of two new dormitories, the addition of eight new faculty apartments, and the conversion of several student residences to faculty homes. Plans will also result in improvements to athletic facilities and much needed infrastructure investment focused on the restoration and preservation of existing facilities.
